Mark Jennings spent fifteen years working in the building trade before setting up Brockhurst Flooring in 2006. He had fitted floors as part of larger construction projects for years and knew there was a gap in Gosport for a flooring specialist who would do the job properly, quote fairly and turn up when he said he would. He started with a van, a set of tools and word-of-mouth referrals from builders he had worked alongside.
Those early years were spent fitting floors across Gosport, Portsmouth and Fareham, one job at a time. Customers kept coming back and recommending the business to neighbours and family. By 2010, there was enough demand to open a small showroom on Military Road, where customers could browse samples of hardwood, laminate, carpet and luxury vinyl without having to commit to anything. It was always meant to be a relaxed space — no hard sell, just honest advice.
Karen Jennings joined the business in 2012, taking over the accounts and customer liaison. Her knack for keeping things organised meant Mark could focus on what he does best: measuring, cutting and fitting. It also meant customers always had someone to speak to when they rang with questions or wanted to check on a delivery date.
Their son Tom completed his flooring apprenticeship in 2019 and now leads the fitting team. He brings a fresh eye and a willingness to work with newer materials like luxury vinyl tile, which has become one of the most popular choices in recent years. Between the three of them, the business covers everything from a single room of laminate to a full commercial refit. The approach has not changed since day one: measure twice, cut once, and leave every job cleaner than you found it.
Founder & Director
Over thirty years in the building and flooring trade. Mark oversees every project and still gets hands-on with the more complex installations. He handles all site surveys and estimates personally.
Office Manager
Karen manages the day-to-day running of the business, from scheduling and invoicing to fielding customer enquiries. She is usually the first voice you hear when you call.
Lead Fitter
Tom joined the family business after completing his apprenticeship in 2019. He leads the fitting team and has particular expertise with engineered wood and LVT installations.
We always measure in person before quoting. Subfloor condition, moisture levels, door clearances and transitions between rooms all need checking before any materials are ordered.
We source from established UK distributors and only recommend products we would use in our own homes. If something is not up to standard, we will tell you and suggest an alternative.
Our written quotes cover everything: materials, preparation, fitting, trims, door adjustments and waste removal. The price you are quoted is the price you pay.
We protect floors, furniture and doorways while we work. When the job is done, we clean up thoroughly. You should not need to get the hoover out after we leave.
